Applique wall hanging, 'Christmas Fiesta'

Everyone seems to take part in a joyous fiesta. Townspeople reenact the first Christmas in a living nativity scene. Sheep, cows and llamas join villagers who arrive in costume or dressed in their Sunday best. Above, the infinite sky is filled with stars. Mar�a Uyauri creates this beautiful wall hanging in intricate arpiller�a � embroidered appliqu�s of fabric cutouts hand-stitched to a background of cotton. Crafted in three dimensions, each figure is lavishly embroidered. A display rod can slip through an opening at the top.
